Wow, what a windy and cold Hawaii winter it's been this year. It's been extremely rainy and cold for Hawaii, but I have welcomed the weather change because it has made it actually feel like Christmas. There's just something about listening to Christmas music when it's dark and gray outside vs. warm and sunny.
So although I've enjoyed and welcomed it, the downside is that it made it that much harder for me to stay on top of the workouts and eating healthy. My goal (which I blogged about previously) was to continue working out for the entire month of December even during the holidays with all of the extra cheating going on, but I unfortunately did not succeed in that goal. I did make it the first half of December (which is still an accomplishment), but the healthy living for this second half of the month has been pretty much non-existent. So I still have yet to reach that goal, but maybe next year? Lol.
So yes, I am a little bit bummed, however, I have a ton of amazing memories to show for it. During these past two weeks I went on multiple hikes with family in town, watched a surf competition, had a North Shore day with cousins (which included eating at the food trucks and getting shaved ice from Matsumoto's), and had lots of down time playing card games galore at home. I even went on a quick trip to Utah with my family where we were able to go sledding and tubing and create many fun memories with our extended family there. And to top it off, we had a family wedding to come back to, which included decorating, setting up, cleaning up, and all the things that come with that! So it has definitely been a busy and fun couple of weeks with family, and to be honest, I wouldn't trade those moments for anything. (Not even a few workouts.)
I sure love all of the family time that comes with the holiday season and this year we were blessed with a lot of it! I hope you all had a beautiful holiday season as well. Mele Kalikimaka from our family to yours! :)
