Take Me Back To Greece // Girls Night

....or to Yamas. Yes, Yamas will do. :)

This week the big question was....Thai or Greek? Thai or Greek? And my answer to that?....Definitely Greek!

If you haven't tried Greek Food before, you are missing out! Although I have to confess, I never even had Greek Food until I actually went to Greece (video below)! I am honestly not one to really explore when it comes to eating new food until I am almost forced to eat it (which is usually when I'm in the country or place I am visiting) and that is when the amazing discovery is made. Yeah boring, I know. But at the same time, what better way to experience a new culture than in the actual place? It makes the whole experience that much better in my opinion, however, I know that is not realistic for everyone, so I will just consider it a huge huge blessing in my life.

Anyways, my friends and I were due for a girls night and when it came down to it, Thai and Greek were the two choices we ended up with. Well as you can see, Greek won! (And for good reason.) We went to Yamas Mediterranean Cuisine for the first time and oh my gosh, the food was delicious! We started with two appetizers and I seriously could've been satisfied with just those for the rest of the night! We had Zucchini Fries with Tzatziki Sauce and Pita Bread with Hummus. Mmmm, my mouth is drooling just thinking about it. And I don't know if there could be a better pair than warm Pita Bread and Hummus. Once I had a bite, I couldn't stop. I just kept going and going and going. I even ordered more Pita Bread! I tried to tell myself to slow down since the whole purpose of going there was to eat healthy (in this case demonstrate portion control), but man, that is where I am weak. If it is in front of me, I have such a hard time resisting. Oh, and lets not forget about the Zucchini Fries and that amazing dip that came with it. It was a white sauce with feta crumbles in it and it was perfection. Again, I couldn't control myself and just went to town with it. Luckily, there were three of us sharing so I couldn't eat ALL of it, thank goodness! Because if it wasn't for them being there, I for sure would've downed both appetizers, no problem! (And that wouldn't have been good.)

And then the actual meal came....

I was converted to Feta Cheese while In Greece last summer. Oh, and that white sauce on the Souvlaki is the Tzatziki Sauce I mentioned earlier in reference to the Zucchini Fries.

Isn't this beautiful?? I had been craving a Greek Salad for quite some time now. The last one I had was the Greek Goddess Salad from Pupukea Grill way back in August, so this was way overdue. I had actually planned on just getting a Greek Salad as my meal, but when I saw that it came as a side to all of the entrees and that the salad was almost the same price as getting a whole meal, I decided to just go that route instead. And I am so glad I did because look at those portion sizes! The "side of salad" was HUGE! So huge that I couldn't even finish it. Probably because I was partly full from the appetizers and I also had Souvlaki (which I also couldn't finish).

Anyways, I just wanted to give this place two thumbs up because it is so good! Loved that I could enjoy and feel satisfied while still eating healthy. You just can't go wrong when you get a win-win like that. Huge thanks to my girls for a nice night out. Always love the vent sessions we get out of it too. Haha!

As a side note, the very next night we had Thai at the new Elephant Shack in Haleiwa and although it was good, it did not compare to this. Just saying. :) Greek for the WIN! (Although I will do another post on the Elephant Shack later because we did enjoy our double date there as well and I'd love to share my opinion about that spot too!)

Until next time....

Xoxo!
